Green Hell, an open world survival game by Polish studio Creepy Jar, has reached an important sales milestone. The game has now sold over 4.5 million units globally.
Creepy Jar shared the news on Steam: “We are deeply thankful for your trust and feedback which led us to this point.”
The 4.5 million figure includes sales on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox, but the share of each platform remains undisclosed. As pointed out by Bankier.pl, the game also sits at 1.33 million wishlists as of May 31.
On July 8, 2022, Creepy Jar announced that Green Hell had surpassed 3.5 million units sold globally. It also had 1.19 million wishlists on Steam at the time. Taking the latest data into account, the game has since sold another million copies and collected 140k wishlists.
According to Creey Jar’s annual financial report, Green Hell sold 1.28 million units in 2022, 327k of which were on PlayStation and Xbox. In the first quarter of 2023, the game reached over 278k copies sold across all platforms and brough in PLN 12 million in revenue.
Creepy Jar was founded in 2016 by former Techland developers, Krzysztof Kwiatek, Tomasz Soból, and Krzysztof Sałek. Green Hell was the studio’s debut project, on which Kwiatek served as the artistic director, while Sałek and Soból were key programmers.
The team wanted to create a realistic open world survival game set in the Amazon rainforest. Green Hell came out in Early Access in August 2018 and has been constantly updated ever since. It currently has an 87% rating on Steam based on over 42k user reviews. In April 2020, the game also peaked at 20k concurrent players (via SteamDB).
