Raw Fury opens exhibition to prove that games are art, each selected artist to get $1000

Famous indie publisher Raw Fury strongly believes that video games are art. To show it to a wider audience, the company will open an exhibition of physical works of art based on its titles.

Works by Raw Fury’s in-house artist Dijana Kemic

Raw Fury will open two galleries, one in Stockholm and one in Zagreb, on June 30. The exhibition is called “Art of Fury” and will include paintings inspired by its games. The publisher will also launch a virtual art gallery so more people can see the works.

“We see games as potential carriers of great art like any other creative medium […] We have tried to match our words with actions by shunning traditional “game” traps like genres, graphic styles, or mechanics, while seeking out games that make us lean in. That make us feel something. We see games as vehicles for a greater message, than purely entertainment.” Raw Fury said in the official announcement.

According to the company, it will pay $1000 to each artist for their inclusion in these galleries. All the works will be based on Raw Fury’s catalog, which includes titles like Call of the Sea, Bad North, Mosaic, Dandara, and West of Dead.

Between September 14 and September 24 Raw Fury will also hold a “silent auction” with online bidding on all exhibited works. All the money will be split between artists and a charity of their choice.
