Respawn becomes first Oscar-winning dev for in-game documentary Colette
Short documentary Colette, featured in the Oculus VR game Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond, won ‘Best Documentary (Short Subject)’ at the Oscars.
As per the description on the Oculus blog, “Colette tells the story of Colette Marin-Catherine, who fought the Nazis as a member of the French Resistance. Since 1945, she has refused to set foot in Germany. That changes when a history student named Lucie enters her life and encourages her to visit the concentration camp where the Nazis killed her brother.”
The film was produced by Oculus Studios and Electronic Arts’ Respawn Entertainment.
We’re over the moon about Colette’s Best Documentary (Short Subject) #Oscars win tonight! From Vince, Peter, and all of us at Respawn, we are humbled and honored. Thank you.

The documentary was also shown outside of the video game and received critical acclaim. Unfortunately, the game itself did not enjoy the same warm reception.
