Cyberpunk 2077 clears 1 million concurrent players on Steam and brings in over $500m in revenue prior to release
Cyberpunk 2077 broke the single player record on Steam hitting 1 million concurrent players on its launch day.
CD Projekt Red’s sci-fi RPG dethroned Fallout 4, which had held that record for almost five years. On its launch day, Bethesda’s title peaked at 472,000 when it came out in 2015. That same year, The Witcher 3 was “only” played by 92,000 concurrent players at launch.
As for all time peaks, Cyberpunk 2077 ranks fourth behind multiplayer titles PUBG, CS:GO, and Dota 2.
On Twitch, Cyberpunk 2077 pulled in 1 million live viewers on its launch day.
The title continues to have the score of 91 on Metacritic, with just 74 percent of positive reviews on Steam. CD Projekt is yet to announce the sales data, but the company has already revealed that the game has been preordered by 8 million people.

According to Niko Partners’ Daniel Ahmad, this figure translates into more than $500m in revenue prior to release. “For reference, GTAV did $800m on its first day including pre orders + day one sales.”
