PS5 dominates US next-gen pre-orders
Market analytics company VGM found 72% of US players who have pre-ordered a next-gen console chose the disc version of the PlayStation 5.
30% went for the Xbox Series X, 10% for the discless PS5 edition and 8% for the Xbox Series S.
The study was conducted from September 23 to 25, 2020, spanning 511 US-based gamers.
52% of the PS5 pre-orders were motivated by console exlusive Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. This is followed by God of War: Ragnarok (42%) and Final Fantasy XVI (32%).
As for Xbox Series X and S, 45% of those who pre-ordered or want to buy the console in 2020 said their choice was motivated by Halo Infinite. It was followed by Fable at 26% and Forza Motorsport 8 with 24%.
Overall, 45% of the respondents who chose the PS5 said they did it for exclusives. 42% of those eyeing up the Xbox Series said they were interested in Game Pass.
