Embracer snaps up Vertigo Games

Embracer Group, the THQ Nordic parent company, is acquiring 100 percent of the share capital in Vertigo Games through its wholly-owned subsidiary Koch Media.

Vertigo Games is a developer and publisher of VR games, best known for zombie shooter Arizona Sunshine.

Embracer is paying €50 million upfront, made up of €40 million is cash and €10 million in shares. If Verigo reaches agreed targets over the next ten years and releases certain titles, Embracer could pay another €65 million may be paid, where a maximum of €25 million will be paid in cash and a maximum of €40 million will be paid in shares.

Following the deal, Vertigo will continue to release VR titles operating independently under the Deep Silver umbrella. It is currently working on post-apocalyptic shooter After the Fall, that the studio calls its “most ambitious project to date.”

In August, Embracer Group announced the acquisition of 8 studios, including Metro developer 4A Games.
