Upgraded Switch to debut next year
Nintendo plans to launch an upgraded version of its Switch console in 2021, accompanied by a strong lineup of new titles.
This is coming from Bloomberg, which heard it from “people familiar with the matter.”
While no specs are available at this point, Nintendo has apparently looked into adding more computing power and 4K graphics.
At around the time of the launch, a nubmer of games from Nintendo and third-party studios will be released for the new Switch. The lineup will include casual games and titles for “devoted fans putting in marathon gaming sessions.”
The manufacturing will only begin next year, with Nintendo’s production partners currently hard at work making the existing models of Switch and Switch Lite.
Since its launch in March 2017, Nintendo has sold 61 million Switch consoles. The rollout of the upgraded version might make it Nintendo’s longest-lived console generation.
