Australia requires microtransactions to be disclosed on front covers of physical video games
In Australia, all games featuring in-game purchases must disclose it on the box art of their retail versions. This applies to all games submitted to the Australian classification board since May 2020.
The new policy was first spotted on Reddit. It will affect titles like Marvel’s Avengers, FIFA 21, PGA Tour 2k21, and Madden NFL, as well as other “games released from around September onwards.”
For example, Marvel’s Avengers was classified on May 1 as containing “science fiction violence, online interactivity and in-game purchases.”
