Microsoft reportedly pulls advertizing from Facebook
Microsoft has paused advertising on Facebook (including Instagram) despite being its third-biggest advertiser in 2019. This is coming from Bloomberg, which cites its unnamed sources.
Last year, Microsoft spent around $116 million on ads on Facebook. Now, however, Microsoft is putting all advertizing on Facebook on hold so that its ads do not appear next to hate speech and misinformation posts. Other big brands like Starbucks, Ford and HP have reportedly done the same. By withdrawing from Facebook, advertizers hope to pressure the social network into limiting inappropriate content on its platforms.
Nevertheless, Microsoft is continuing to move Mixer partners and streamers to Facebook Gaming after the tech giant decided to shut down its streaming service.
