Konami denies Silent Hill comeback rumors

In mid-March, rumors surfaced that two Silent Hill games might be in development. One is allegedly a soft reboot made by the creators of the original games including director and writer of the 1999 Silent Hill Keiichiro Toyama, Silent Hill 2 and 3 art director Masahiro Ito and composer Akira Yamaoka. The other project was described as an attempt to revive the cancelled Silent Hills, with Kojima Productions behind it.

While previously confirmed as plausible by multiple sources, these rumors “are not true,” according to Konami.

“We’re aware of all the rumors and reports but can confirm that they are not true. I know it’s not the answer your fans may want to hear,” a North American PR representative told website Rely on Horror.

The representative did not specify if the company denied the existence of just one or both of the reported projects.

In any case, Konamy is not ruling out the possibility to revive the franchise “It’s not to say we are completely closing the door on the franchise, just not in the way it is being reported,” the US representative added.
