Iron News (21.01.2013)

Briefly about the main “iron” events of today: Sony introduced its new tablet, the characteristics of LG Optimus G Pro became known, BlackBerry was compared with the iPhone 5.

Sony has unveiled its new tablet

Today, the first information about the company’s new tablet appeared on Sony’s official website. It became the 10.1-inch Xperia Tablet Z. Visually, it resembles the recently introduced Sony Xperia Z smartphone: a strict black rectangle with slightly rounded corners and a border, probably also covered with glass on both sides. The thickness of the novelty is very small 6.9 mm, weight – 495 grams (for comparison, the thickness of the iPad mini was 7.2 mm, and the iPad 4 weighs about 650 grams).

According to the characteristics, the “tablet” is also not far from the flagship of the Japanese company: a quad-core 1.5 Ghz processor beats in the chest of the Xperia Tablet Z. There is no exact information about the amount of RAM and screen resolution yet. Most likely, they will be 2 GB and 1920 by 1080 pixels, respectively.

The device will appear on the Japanese market this spring. There is no data yet on when its world release will take place.

The first details about LG Optimus G Pro have appeared

LG Optimus G has not yet appeared on Russian shelves, and LG has already prepared a worthy replacement for it. According to rumors, the new device will be significantly different from its predecessor. A 5-inch screen instead of 4.7, an increased resolution from 720p to 1080p, a quad-core processor running not at 1.5 Ghz, but at as much as 1.7 Ghz, the amount of internal memory that has grown to 32 GB and, which led to all this “happiness”, an increase in battery capacity to 3000 mAh. As for the 13-megapixel camera, they decided to leave it.

It suddenly occurred to me that by adding a couple more gigabytes of RAM, LG Optimus G Pro would be more powerful than my desktop system in terms of characteristics.

BlackBerry compared with iPhone 5

A curious video has appeared on the web, in which the far from final version of the BlackBerry Z10 gadget and the latest generation iPhone are compared in real time. According to the results of the video, Apple’s creation turns out to be less interesting. The RIM product has its own Siri analogue working better, the browser is faster, there are more curious chips, and the screen is more serious – 4.2 inches.
