Soomla: Russia and Ukraine are leaders in fraud
More than 90% of in-game purchases in countries such as Russia, Ukraine and Belarus are “pirated”.
After analyzing the data collected from “several large games” that integrated the SOOMLA Grow solution, analysts have compiled a curious graph that shows the percentage of “pirated” microtransactions in relation to their total number by country. “Pirated” meant those purchases that were made by users for free using applications that hack games.
It follows from the graph that the largest percentage (more than 90% of the total) of such IAPs falls on Ukraine and Russia. The source also notes that this is also true for Belarus.
The lowest percentage (less than 10%) of fraud was observed in Japan and Korea.
However, we would like to note that this information should be treated with caution, since the sample was most likely insignificant.
