Developer and publisher Wargaming has closed the R&D division. Information about this in the letter App2Top.ru the company’s press service confirmed.
World of Tanks
This week, several independent sources confirmed to us the termination of the unit.
It operated in five offices, including the Wargaming headquarters in Nicosia (Cyprus). In total, it employed more than 100 people (according to an unofficial source)*.
Important: mass layoffs should not be expected. As the press service noted, “employees were offered to find a place in the company in other positions.”
This is partly confirmed by one of the sources, but with an important addition. According to him, there are indeed developers left in the company from former R&D employees. At the same time, management was reduced. He also says that the products that were conducted by the R&D department remained in operation. Another source, however, assures that all projects of the former division have already been closed.
According to Wargaming, the decision to abolish the department was made during the restructuring of the company. R&D activity as such does not stop. In the existing product groups, it is in full swing.
* There is a complicated history with offices. The press service writes that it is incorrect to write about the closure of offices: “The people who were structurally part of the R&D division were geographically located in different offices (several people per location).”
