During Gamescom, Nvidia introduced a series of updates aimed at developers, focusing on DLSS, RTX, and the GeForce Now cloud service.

The launch of DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction is now accessible through the Nvidia app for all GeForce RTX graphics cards. This new version is based on a second-generation transformer model designed to enhance image quality in games with ray and path tracing. It integrates "denoising and Super Resolution into a single model" and supports 30 titles, such as Cyberpunk 2077, Alan Wake 2, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Game developers have the option to add support through official updates.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang responded to critiques of DLSS 5, which was revealed earlier in the week and faced allegations of compromising artistic control by applying an AI layer to character models. Huang defended the technology, stating critics were "completely wrong" and asserting that DLSS 5 combines "controllability of the geometry and textures" with the power of generative AI, while still granting developers "direct control." Companies like Bethesda, Capcom, NetEase, NCSoft, Tencent, Ubisoft, and Warner Bros Games are on board with DLSS 5.

Nvidia also announced that publishers are backing RTX Spark, a forthcoming Windows platform that merges DLSS and Reflex with integrated AI capabilities, set to launch this fall. Electronic Arts, Embark Studios, and Ubisoft are among those developing titles like EA Sports F1 25, Apex Legends, and Arc Raiders for the platform, with Krafton, NetEase, Riot Games, and Xbox having pledged support earlier this year. Nvidia is also collaborating with EA to include native support for its Javelin anti-cheat technology.

Gears of War: E-Day, expected on October 6, will feature RTX Mega Geometry, allowing Unreal Engine 5's Nanite rendering technology to support full-detail ray tracing for the first time. This technique, developed over six years, will be incorporated into Microsoft's DirectX Raytracing 2.0 standard, expanding ray-traced Nanite capabilities to any Unreal Engine 5 project.

Remedy's Control Resonant will release with the full capabilities of DLSS 4.5, including Ray Reconstruction and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, alongside advanced path-traced effects building on its predecessor's ray-traced technologies. Meanwhile, IO Interactive's 007 First Light will implement path tracing and Ray Reconstruction starting September 15.

Nvidia outlined plans to integrate DLSS 4.5 or ray-tracing support into eight more games, including Aion 2, Black State, and Ananta.

RTX Remix, Nvidia’s path-tracing modding suite, has been upgraded to support DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction and Multi Frame Generation, paired with a new Painkiller RTX update enhancing its first 15 levels and an Morrowind RTX mod focused on Seyda Neen and Balmora.

The company also announced enhancements for GeForce Now, introducing GOG single sign-on and Firefox support, both of which are now available. Additionally, compatibility with Steam Machine, Steam Controller, and Fire TV will expand later in the year, including first-day streaming of titles like Control Resonant and Gears of War: E-Day.

Nvidia's hardware partners participated by unveiling new product offerings, such as AGON by AOC's maiden 5K G-SYNC Pulsar monitor.
