An antitrust case has been initiated against Apple in Russia
The Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia (FAS) has officially taken action against Apple.
As the agency reported, the reason for the initiation of the case was Apple's refusal to preinstall the Russian application store RuStore on its devices—even though the latter has never been available on iOS. In addition, the corporation denied the preinstallation of the Max messenger.
FAS reminded that it had warned Apple about the risk of an antitrust case back in early July. However, Apple has since corrected one violation—the corporation allowed the default search engine on devices sold in Russia to be changed to a Russian one.
Now, Apple faces a fine. Initially, it was expected that the amount could reach 4 billion rubles, but it is possible that due to the concession with the search engine, the amount may be slightly reduced.
