Atari has entered into an agreement with Universal to develop ten films

Atari has entered an agreement with Universal Pictures to transform ten of its game franchises into full-length films.

As reported by Deadline, Universal Pictures has acquired the rights to the first film in this series. However, the specific game that the initial movie will draw from has not been revealed.

The games slated for adaptation include Asteroids, Adventure, Berzerk, Breakout, Centipede, Crystal Castles, Millipede, Missile Command, Pong, and Yars' Revenge. These projects are anticipated to be converted into large-scale action-adventure films, according to Deadline.

Wade Rosen, Atari's chairman and CEO, confirmed this development to Deadline. Universal, however, opted not to provide additional comments.

"For over fifty years, Atari has created gaming experiences that have stayed within popular culture well beyond their original debuts," Rosen stated.

"We’re thrilled to collaborate with Universal and Entertainment 360 to adapt the essence of our storied brand and games into a new format."
