Midgar Studio, known for creating Edge of Eternity, will cease operations.

Nacon CTO and Midgar's founder, Jérémy Zeler-Maury, announced on LinkedIn that attempts to find a buyer were unsuccessful and that the court has mandated the studio's closure.

Zeler-Maury shared that the team had worked tirelessly to find a way to save both the company and its staff. Despite their efforts, a viable solution could not be completed in time. Midgar Studio, established in 2008, aimed to blend French and Japanese gaming styles.

"Midgar has been a significant part of my life. Parting with it is extremely hard," Zeler-Maury expressed.

He reflected on the studio's journey through its work on titles like Hover, Edge of Eternity, and Edge of Memories, and acknowledged the people who made these projects possible.

"To everyone who has been a part of Midgar, thank you for making a vision come true," he stated, appreciating the dedication shown during challenges and successes. He also expressed gratitude to their partners and the community of players who supported them throughout.

In his closing remarks, Zeler-Maury thanked the team, urging studios and recruiters to recognize their talent and potential. He assured that despite the closure, their achievements remain significant and enduring.

He concluded by stating that although Midgar Studio is closing its doors, the legacy will continue through their games and future endeavors.

The exact number of affected employees wasn't specified, but the studio's LinkedIn suggests a team of 11 to 50 people.

In March, Nacon subsidiaries including Spiders, Kylotonn, Cyanide, and Nacon Tech faced insolvency issues. Similarly, Spiders, developers of Greedfall, also shut down after failing to secure a buyer.

Slitherine Software has acquired rights to the Warhammer Blood Bowl series from Nacon, with plans to publish a new installment in 2026.
