Epic Games has reached a settlement in a lawsuit against a former contractor who was accused of leaking information about unannounced Fortnite collaborations

Epic Games finalized a legal agreement with a former contractor accused of divulging secret details about future Fortnite partnerships with franchises like Minecraft, Ben 10, and Game of Thrones before they were officially announced.

The agreement requires Hayden Cohen to adhere to conditions preventing them from engaging with or distributing any privileged or proprietary information belonging to Epic Games. This includes ensuring such data is not transmitted to any other party.

According to Game File, the settlement proposal, pending judicial approval, does not specify any financial compensation. However, Epic’s initial lawsuit aimed to recover damages for both direct losses and unjust gains.

An Epic Games representative, Natalie Munoz, stated to Game File that legal steps were taken against the contractor for repeated disclosures of proprietary and trade secrets entrusted to them during their tenure with Epic.

Munoz further added that the company requested a court mandate to prevent future dissemination or publication of Epic’s sensitive information by the individual.

This case is part of a broader trend where gaming companies confront persistent information leakers through legal actions. Recent examples include cases by Tencent, Nintendo, and Microsoft.
