Panamanian authorities have tightened gambling regulations

In Panama, Law No. 527 has been enacted, introducing a new regulatory system for gambling and expanding the powers of the Gambling Control Board.

The law applies to both land-based casinos and various forms of online gambling. Specifically, it grants authorities the right to restrict access to websites and applications operating without a Panamanian license, including those operated by foreign entities. Telecom companies are required to implement blocks within five days of a directive.

Under the new law, operators will now be required to provide users with the ability to set limits on time and expenditures. They will also need to implement biometric identification systems to verify identity and age, as well as introduce mechanisms that warn individuals about risky gambling behavior.

Operators who fail to comply with government requirements face fines of up to $1 million. The law is expected to take effect within six months.
