Epic Games has pledged to offer "immediate self-service refunds" for D4vd cosmetics following a murder charge, while not committing to fully removing them

Players of Fortnite will be able to get refunds for items linked to D4vd following allegations against him. David Anthony Burke, known as D4vd, faces charges connected to the murder of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, aged 14, as well as possession of extensive child pornography. He maintains his innocence.
The Guardian outlines that Burke is accused of first-degree murder, with specific circumstances of ambushing. Allegations suggest that he murdered the young girl to prevent her from exposing their illicit relationship.
D4vd initially gained attention by pairing his music with Fortnite gameplay videos. This led to his presence within the game via special cosmetic items, emotes, and jam packs, including his track "Locked and Loaded," which was recognized as an official anthem for the game.
Following these serious allegations, Epic Games, the creator of Fortnite, has decided to offer refunds for any D4vd-related in-game items starting April 28. The company addressed concerns through a post on Twitter/X, stating that they are making several changes over time.
Beginning April 28, players can use a self-service refund option. Additionally, those who contact player support regarding D4vd items can receive refunds. However, the company has yet to make an announcement about completely removing these items from the game.
