Gamers Sue Nintendo Over Tariffs in the US

Nintendo has been sued by two American gamers. They claim that the company "unfairly enriched itself" through tariffs introduced last year by the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump.

The gamers explained in the lawsuit that after the tariffs were introduced, Nintendo raised the prices of its consoles and other products. Following that, like many other companies, they demanded in court that the U.S. authorities return the money paid for tariffs with interest — yet offered no compensation to the buyers. If successful in the legal proceedings, Nintendo would effectively be reimbursed for the tariff costs twice.

According to the plaintiffs, Nintendo's actions violated consumer protection laws.

Currently, the gamers seek to achieve class action status for the lawsuit, allowing all Americans who bought Nintendo products from February 1, 2025, to February 24, 2026, to join.

In a comment to the media, Nintendo confirmed the existence of the lawsuit but declined to discuss it further.
