The UK government has allocated £28.5 million to support game developers
Officials hope that as a result, the country will create "new GTA or Tomb Raider" games.

The funds will be distributed among British developers by the specialized UK Games Fund. Grants will be awarded, with the amount dependent on the experience and goals of the studios.
For example, startups can receive up to 100,000 pounds sterling ($135,800) to develop prototypes. Meanwhile, more established teams will have the opportunity to apply for 250,000 pounds sterling ($339,500), which can be used not only for game development but also for their own scaling efforts.
An interesting point: at the start of the year, companies in the UK's National Videogame Council criticized the government for insufficient support of the industry. Later, the developers’ association TIGA called for increased support for gaming startups, stating that employment in British game development is declining at a record pace. The allocation of substantial grant money to developers may be a response to this.
