Matthias Linda, the developer behind the RPG Chained Echoes, has initiated legal proceedings against First Press Games, accusing the publisher of not delivering the physical editions promised to Kickstarter supporters.

Linda announced this to backers, acknowledging that the choice was difficult and was made after thorough deliberation. Further details about the lawsuit were shared in a Kickstarter update.

He noted it has been over two years since First Press Games was to release these physical editions, with only regular PlayStation 4 copies made available in 2026. "Due to this, I have decided to end my association with FPG and pursue legal action. Unfortunately, I cannot elaborate more for legal reasons," wrote Linda.

The developer expressed a commitment to either distribute physical editions through a different publisher or provide refunds to the 2019 backers.

Linda stated, "Opting for new editions may involve a waiting period dependent on the lawsuit's conclusion, but refunds are available at any time. Rest assured."

In closing, Linda addressed the disappointment stemming from delays and limited updates, apologizing for the current situation.

GamesIndustry.biz has reached out to First Press Games for their response and will provide updates pending a reply.
