The developers of Escape from Tarkov were fined in Russia for violating the personal data law
Now Battlestate Games has to pay a fine of 2 million rubles.
Escape from Tarkov
As reported by TASS, the fine was imposed by the Tagansky Court of Moscow. It ruled that the developers of Escape from Tarkov failed to fulfill obligations regarding the "recording, systematization, accumulation, storage, and clarification of personal data of Russian citizens."
It should be noted that the maximum fine for legal entities for such violations is 6 million rubles, so Battlestate Games received a relatively lenient penalty.
Representatives of Battlestate Games have not commented on the decision of the Russian court.
A year ago, Blizzard Entertainment and MY.GAMES were fined in Russia for a similar accusation. They were each fined 600 thousand rubles for failing to fulfill their duties as organizers of the dissemination of information on the internet.
