Epic Games convinced the Australian court of anti-competitive behavior by Apple and Google

Epic Games announced that a court in Australia has ruled in its legal battle with Apple and Google. The court found that both corporations had abused their dominant position in the mobile store market and in the in-game payment sector to restrict competition.

Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney called the outcome a victory in a post on X, but he was slightly misleading. As reported by the Australian Financial Review, the court did not fully support Epic Games on all counts. Specifically, it rejected the allegation that Apple and Google violated the Australian Consumer Law.

Representatives from Apple and Google told the media they do not entirely agree with the verdict in Australia. They are currently planning to review all the case materials, which amount to over 2,000 pages, and then consider their next steps. It is possible that the corporations will file appeals.

Meanwhile, Sweeney announced that thanks to the court's decision, Fortnite will be able to return to iOS in Australia. However, he did not specify when.
