Tim Sweeney refutes allegations that insiders at Epic have criticized Disney for its "slow pace of decision-making"

Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney has denied allegations that an "anonymous source" within the company expressed dissatisfaction with Disney's decision-making speed. According to reports, unnamed "executives" from Epic Games told the Wall Street Journal about "the slow pace of decision-making at Disney," largely due to the need for approvals from various departments.

The discussion highlighted Fortnite's AI Darth Vader, which engaged approximately 10 million players during its temporary availability in the game.

In response, Sweeney dismissed the allegations as "BS," stating on X/Twitter: "The anonymous quote is BS. The speed of Disney and Epic collaborations like Darth Vader has been awesome and is around 10x the ordinary speed of media company dealings in this business. We even provided a statement to the writer of this article saying so, but they chose not to print it."

In February 2024, The Walt Disney Company invested $1.5 billion in Epic Games, acquiring an equity position and unveiling a significant partnership with Fortnite. The initiative is described as an "open, persistent, social universe," enabling fans to "watch, shop and engage" with diverse Disney content, inclusive of brands like Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel, and Avatar.
