Tim Sweeney has refuted allegations suggesting that insiders at Epic have expressed dissatisfaction with "the slow pace of decision-making at Disney"

Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, has dismissed assertions regarding dissatisfaction within the company over Disney’s sluggish pace in decision-making. Reports claimed anonymous Epic Games executives expressed discontent to the Wall Street Journal about Disney's slow process caused by the necessity to secure approvals from numerous departments.
The discussion centered on Fortnite's AI iteration of Darth Vader, engaging with approximately 10 million players during its brief availability in the game.
Contradicting these claims, Sweeney labeled the story as "BS." On X/Twitter, he clarified: "The anonymous quote is BS. The speed of Disney and Epic collaborations like Darth Vader has been awesome and is around 10x the ordinary speed of media company dealings in this business. We even provided a statement to the writer of this article saying so, but they chose not to print it."
In February 2024, Disney invested $1.5 billion to gain equity in Epic Games and announced an expansive collaboration with Fortnite. The partnership aims to create an "open, persistent, social universe" allowing fans to "watch, shop and engage with content, characters and stories" from Disney’s extensive line-up, including characters from Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel, and Avatar.
