Epic Games reaches a settlement in antitrust lawsuit with Samsung
Epic Games has reached a settlement in its antitrust lawsuit with Samsung.
The legal action was initiated by Epic last year, asserting that a collaboration between Samsung and Google interfered with the jury's decision in its prior antitrust case against Google. Epic had achieved a legal victory in that case in December 2023.
Epic's original complaint highlighted concerns, arguing that Samsung’s misleading claims about Epic’s apps being "unknown and unsafe" were damaging. These assertions, according to Epic, tarnished its reputation and led to users opting not to install Epic apps, consequently resulting in lost revenue from potential app purchases.
CEO Tim Sweeney recently announced that Epic is "dropping our legal pursuit against Samsung following productive discussions," and expressed appreciation towards Samsung for taking Epic's issues into account.
Epic is continuing a related legal case against Google.
