Playdead co-founder's public dispute escalates over a demand for $73,000, alleging the use of a "copyright protected image" on LinkedIn

Dino Patti, co-founder of Playdead, is facing legal action following a LinkedIn post that included an "unauthorized" photo of co-founder Arnt Jensen. Patti departed from the company in 2016. In 2017, reports surfaced detailing the contentious split between Patti and creative director Arnt Jensen, shedding light on their deteriorating relationship.

Patti revealed through a "legal love letter" dated March 3 that Jensen seeks over $73,000 for "suitable compensation and reimbursement." He mentioned that such communications from Jensen have been a frequent occurrence over the past nine years.

Playdead asserted in its communication that Patti's actions continue to infringe on the company's intellectual property and confidentiality agreements. The letter stated that Patti's actions mispresent the extent of his role in the development of the game Limbo.

Patti responded on LinkedIn, emphasizing that the image used was publicly available and expressing frustration at being threatened with a lawsuit over the post. He recounted his contributions to Playdead and maintained that, without him, the studio would not have been established, while still recognizing Jensen's talent.

In further correspondence with Game Developer, Playdead reiterated that its legal actions aimed to safeguard the company's intellectual property, integral to its commercial integrity and standing.
