The Screen Actors Guild of America has prohibited its members from working on League of Legends
The Screen Actors Guild of America, SAG-AFTRA, has decided to boycott the game League of Legends. They are dissatisfied with the actions of Formosa Interactive, which assists Riot Games with the title's voice work.

In an official statement, the Guild reminded that in July, it announced a strike against several major gaming companies. Shortly after that, the Guild claims, Formosa Interactive attempted to shield one of the games they work on from the strike. Allegedly, Formosa Interactive transferred the game to a shell company and requested to hire only non-Guild member actors for it. The Guild called this behavior a "flagrant violation of U.S. labor laws" and discrimination against union workers.
The specific game Formosa Interactive tried to protect from the Guild's strike is not disclosed. League of Legends was chosen for the boycott because it is one of the most popular games in the company's portfolio. Besides it, Formosa Interactive has contributed to Helldivers 2, Apex Legends, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Genshin Impact, several Call of Duty titles, and many other games.
Notably, according to the rules, the Guild's strike does not affect game services whose development began before September 2023. However, an exception was made for League of Legends. Now, until the end of the boycott, SAG-AFTRA actors will not voice or otherwise participate in the game's work.
In a response statement, Formosa Interactive denied the Guild's allegations. Riot Games, in turn, stated that League of Legends is not the game for which they allegedly tried to find non-Guild actors. Riot Games added that the actors' protest would not affect the animated series "Arcane," created based on League of Legends.
