In Australia, games with loot boxes will start receiving a 15+ rating
The Australian government has made changes to its game rating system. Starting from September 22, 2024, the country's rating board will assign games containing paid loot boxes an "M15+" rating — recommended for individuals over 15 years of age.

Important: assigning such a rating does not prohibit the sale of games to children and teenagers. It is merely a recommendation that users may choose to follow or disregard.
It is reported that this change will only affect new games. Titles that received a rating in Australia before September 22, 2024, will not be re-evaluated by the commission unless their rating is revoked for some reason.
It was first reported in March 2023 that Australia intended to give games with loot boxes an "M15+" rating. Prior to this, there had been several proposals in the country to either assign such projects an "R18+" rating or completely ban their sale to minors.
