AimJunkies has been denied a new trial in its legal dispute with Bungie

Bungie has successfully maintained its legal victory over AimJunkies, a provider of cheats, as two courts in the United States supported the developer of Destiny. According to TorrentFreak, US District Judge Thomas Zilly ruled unequivocally against AimJunkies' request for a retrial, stating that Bungie demonstrated sufficient proof of copyright infringement.

Judge Zilly elaborated, "[A]t trial Bungie needed only to establish that the 'cheat software' distributed by [the] defendants had copied protected aspects of Destiny 2. Bungie could show that [the] defendants copied protected aspects of Destiny 2 with either direct or circumstantial evidence of copying. Both types of evidence were presented at trial."

Moreover, the Ninth Circuit Court dismissed AimJunkies' appeal regarding arbitration. This decision upheld the $4.3 million awarded to Bungie for damages and legal costs.

Before the trial occurred, Bungie had already secured a partial victory in arbitration against AimJunkies in February 2023, marking a significant step in a legal dispute that began in 2021. The subsequent trial, held later this year, resulted in Bungie receiving an additional $63,210 in damages as reported by GamesIndustry.biz.
