A law on the development of creative industries in Russia has been signed
Last fall, a group of Russian deputies proposed defining at the state level which industries are considered creative and how to regulate them. Yesterday, on August 8, the relevant bill was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The law officially introduced the term "creative industry":
“This is economic activity directly related to the creation, promotion in domestic and foreign markets, distribution, and (or) realization of a creative product that possesses uniqueness and economic value.”
Lawmakers identified a total of four types of creative industries. One of them is industries based on information and telecommunications technologies. Specifically, the gaming industry falls under this category.
Additionally, the law mentions the need to create a unified registry of creative industry entities in Russia. It also outlines, in general terms, the features of state support for creative companies.
The law will come into force 180 days after its official publication.
