Skillz has taken legal action against Voodoo, alleging illegal practices and misleading advertising

Blitz Win Cash

Skillz, a company that develops mobile gaming platforms, has taken legal action against Voodoo for purportedly engaging in deceptive practices and misleading marketing in relation to the Blitz Win Cash app.

The lawsuit, filed on Monday in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, contends that Voodoo misrepresents the app as "fair" and "skill-based," while it allegedly employs bots to manipulate tournament results and decide the extent of players' winnings.

"Utilizing algorithms to decide the results of its tournaments converts what could otherwise be lawful games of skill into unlawful games of chance or gambling, where participants' influence on the outcome is minimal," the complaint stated.

"By using bots or algorithms to determine winnings when money is at stake, Voodoo benefits financially from each game played," the lawsuit continued.

According to Skillz, the alleged deceptive marketing and bot usage by Voodoo have led to a decline in Skillz's customer base and have caused "losses in market share, revenue, and profits," given that both companies offer online multiplayer game competitions.

In a related legal matter earlier this year, Skillz was awarded $42.9 million in a patent infringement case against AviaGames. During this trial, Skillz demonstrated to the court that AviaGames was similarly using bots to influence game outcomes. AviaGames now faces a class-action lawsuit over these allegations.
