Nintendo has filed a lawsuit against a Reddit moderator and sellers of hacked consoles
Nintendo's lawyers continue to combat video game piracy. Recently, the company filed two lawsuits simultaneously.
The first lawsuit is against SwitchPirates subreddit moderator James Williams, better known as Archbox. According to Nintendo, Williams owns several stores selling pirated copies of games for the Nintendo Switch portable console. This fact alone greatly displeases Nintendo. Additionally, the company claims that Williams promotes a culture of piracy through the subreddit and encourages others to violate Nintendo's copyrights.
The second lawsuit was filed against the owners of the Modded Hardware platform, where flash cartridges, mod chips for hacking the Nintendo Switch, and hacked consoles are sold.
In both cases, Nintendo demands that the violators compensate for the damages and shut down their projects.
