The owners of the game Wordle have filed a lawsuit against the creator of the geographical puzzle Worldle
The New York Times, which owns the word game Wordle, is suing the puzzle developer Kory McDonald over his game Worldle. The reason is the similarity in the name and concept of the game.

The New York Times accused McDonald of causing confusion and attempting to profit from the popularity of Wordle.
McDonald disagrees with the accusations. In a comment to the BBC, he stated that there is an entire industry of games inspired by Wordle. Such games include, for example, Flaggle, which is about flags, and Headle, which is about music. He believes that, at worst, The New York Times lawsuit will result in him having to rename his game.
To recap, in Wordle players have to guess a five-letter word once a day with six attempts. In Worldle, players must guess the name of a country or other territory by its outline. This also allows for six attempts. According to McDonald, his game has a monthly audience of 100,000 people.
