The court approved a settlement agreement between CD PROJEKT and investors dissatisfied with the quality of Cyberpunk 2077 on release

Three years later, CD PROJEKT closed the issue of a lawsuit from the company's investors, who were not satisfied with the state of the release version of Cyberpunk 2077. The District Court of California finally approved the settlement agreement between the parties.

Recall that in December 2020, investors sued CD PROJEKT due to the fact that the developers deliberately hid from them information about the technical problems of Cyberpunk 2077. The plaintiffs claimed that they suffered losses after the company's capitalization plummeted. Note that CD PROJEKT shares are still trading cheaper than before the release of Cyberpunk 2077. At the time of writing the news, 107.8 zlotys ($ 27.2) are given for one share — this is 75% less than before the release of the game.

Several lawsuits were filed against CD PROJEKT, but in May 2021, the court merged them into one case.

In January 2022, the developers of Cyberpunk 2077 and investors signed a settlement agreement. They agreed that investors would completely abandon claims against the company and its board members. In turn, CD PROJEKT will pay compensation in the amount of $ 1.85 million through the insurance company Colonnade Insurance S.A. However, CD PROJEKT refused to admit guilt.

In January 2023, the American court provisionally approved the settlement agreement. It took him almost another year to issue a final resolution approving the agreement and officially terminate the proceedings. The court agreed to all the terms of the contract between the parties. It is not known whether CD PROJEKT has already transferred money to investors.

Over the years, CD PROJEKT has made many changes to Cyberpunk 2077, which have significantly improved the quality of the game. Now the project has a "very positive" rating on Steam — Cyberpunk 2077 has received more than 601 thousand reviews, of which 81% are approving. CD PROJEKT recently released the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty add-on. Gamers received it very warmly: the rating of the add-on on Steam is 92%.

CD PROJEKT is currently engaged in the sequel of the game — a project codenamed Orion is being created on the Unreal Engine 5 engine new to the company and is at an early stage of development. It is not yet known when it will get to release.
