Microsoft, Electronic Arts and a number of other large companies have been sued because their games are addictive
In the United States, a lawsuit has been filed against Microsoft, Ubisoft, Electronic Arts, Epic Games and some of their affiliated studios. Companies have been accused of making games too exciting and aggressively monetizing them in order to earn as much as possible.
The authors of the lawsuit are the parents of a 13—year-old gamer. They claim that their child plays for 12-14 hours a day — most often in Fortnite, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege and the games of the Battlefield and Call of Duty series. He spends about $350 a month in them. In total, the teenager has spent $3,000 to date. According to the plaintiffs, because of the games, he began to study worse, lost all interest in communicating with friends, and his hands, shoulders and elbows began to hurt.
The plaintiffs demand that the companies compensate them, pay for their lawyer's expenses, allocate money to pay for psychological assistance to families whose children are being treated for gambling addiction, and also change the approach to game development.
