The court recognized that a teenager from the hacker group Lapsus was behind the leak of GTA VI$
A London court ruled that 18-year-old hacker Arion Kurtaj was involved in hacking the internal network of Rockstar Games and leaking fragments of GTA VI. The hacker attack was carried out in September 2022.
According to the BBC, Kurtaj suffers from autism and therefore did not testify in court. Because of this, the jury did not determine whether the hacker committed his actions with criminal intent. They only admitted that the teenager was involved in the break-in.
The court agreed that Kurtaj was one of the leaders of the hacker group Lapsus$ and also penetrated the networks of NVIDIA, Microsoft, Uber and other companies. Together with him, at least one other teenager participated in the hacking of these companies — a 17-year-old hacker, whose name is not disclosed due to his age.
Kurtaj is now in custody. It is not yet known what punishment will be imposed on him.
