Media: Microsoft believes that the lawsuit from the FTC will not prevent closing the deal with Activision Blizzard
Microsoft expects that UK and EU regulators will approve the takeover of Activision Blizzard, according to sources of the New York Post newspaper. After that, she will be able to negotiate with the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC), which previously sued the corporation.
According to the plan, the British regulator should publish its decision on the deal today, and the European Commission — by May 22. As soon as Microsoft receives approval in the EU, it is going to close the deal quickly, paying $68.7 billion for Activision Blizzard.
“She intends to shove the deal down the throat of the FTC,” said a source close to the situation.
The FTC opposed the deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard in December 2022. The agency said that the takeover will allow Microsoft to suppress competitors in the console and cloud gaming markets.
