Motorola filed a new lawsuit against Apple

Motorola Mobility, owned by Google, has once again entered into a patent war with Apple. 

Now Motorola has filed a complaint with the US International Trade Commission (ITC) accusing Apple of violating seven more patents. As stated in the lawsuit: Apple “illegally used” the ideas of the Motorola Mobility patents in the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. The patents relate to e-mail notifications, location reminders and media players. 

So far, Apple has not commented on this complaint in any way, although the case is scheduled for August 24. Recall that the final decision on the previous complaint from Motorola, filed in April (according to a preliminary ruling, Apple violated Motorola’s rights to a patent related to noise reduction technology), has not yet been made. 

“We wanted to settle all claims before official complaints, but Apple’s unwillingness to work with us on licensing leaves us no choice but to protect our interests in the prescribed manner,” Motorola representatives say.

In total, Motorola Mobility owns about 25 thousand patents and patent applications, not so long ago Google acquired more than 2 thousand patents owned by IBM. At the same time, Google itself once offered to declare some Apple patents industry-wide. Such a proposal in the “apple” company was called an attempt to attack its extensive patent portfolio.
