Media: The FTC expects that its lawsuit against Microsoft and Activision Blizzard will convince the European Commission not to approve the deal
In December 2022, the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) sued Microsoft and Activision Blizzard. Bloomberg sources claim that she did it a few hours after she learned about the plans of the European Commission to start a new stage of negotiations with Microsoft.
According to the sources of the publication, the FTC wanted to have time to file a lawsuit before the European regulator decides to approve the purchase of Activision Blizzard. Her lawsuit was supposed to form the necessary agenda in society and prevent an agreement between the European Commission and Microsoft.
Recall that the European Commission must make a decision on the deal by April 11.
