The State Duma proposed to ban video games with propaganda of LGBT, violence and drugs
The author of the idea is Yana Lantratova, the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Education. According to Izvestia, she proposed to make appropriate amendments to the bill banning LGBT propaganda in the country.
According to Lantratova, video games are not regulated enough in Russia, which is why children may encounter inappropriate content for them.
“Amendments are necessary to ensure the safety of content and preserve the health of citizens, as well as to prevent the commission of socially dangerous acts under the influence of game content. Such information may include propaganda of non—traditional sexual relations and the desire to change gender, as well as other involvement of minors in committing illegal actions,” Lantratova said.
Update: Initially, the news was only about banning games with LGBT propaganda. But according to the RIA Novosti news agency, games that promote violence, pornography, drugs and contain profanity may also be banned.
