MetaX sued the Meta* corporation over the "theft" of the trademark
MetaX, a company developing VR and AR applications, has accused Meta* Corporation of violating the “META” trademark. She said that she had been developing this sign for more than 12 years “through blood, sweat and tears”, and because of the rebranding of Facebook* she faced serious problems.
According to MetaX, some consumers confuse the names of companies or mistakenly think that organizations are somehow connected. The situation is aggravated by the fact that Meta* now pays more attention to the metaverse and virtual reality technologies, which means that the business of both companies has begun to overlap in part. MetaX fears that over time it will simply be forced out of the market.
MetaX noted that for eight months she unsuccessfully tried to negotiate with Mark Zuckerberg‘s company, but in the end she had to go to court. Now she demands to ban Meta* from using the disputed trademark and pay compensation.
*The organization’s activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation
