The Chinese administration has taken up the regulation of the mobile games market
From July 1, all mobile games published in China will have to obtain a preliminary permission for publication from the State Administration of the People’s Republic of China for Press, Publishing, Broadcasting, Cinematography and Television (SAPPRFT).
Prior permission must be obtained by the publisher from SAPPRFT at least 20 days before the launch of the mobile game. Those products that have not been approved will not be able to be published or function online.
Approved projects that have received a significant update or have changed their name will also have to be checked by the Chinese administration. As “significant” is meant, among other things, the appearance of new maps, new heroes, new plots, and so on.
Those projects that have already been launched must receive permission from SAPPRFT before October 1 of this year.
