Epic Citadel has been released on Google Play
The Epic Citadel app, showcasing the power of the mobile version of Unreal Engine, has appeared in the official Android store, merely two years after its release on the App Store.
It's not strange that "Epic Citadel" has appeared on Google Play; what's strange is why it took so long. According to Pocket Gamer, the Android version was ready back in 2010. Does this mean we should expect Infinity Blade? No, says Epic Games, the game will remain an iOS exclusive.
So, what is the purpose of the Epic Citadel release?
We believe that Epic simply feels it's losing the mobile market. While Unity regularly sees games released for both iOS and Android, Unreal cannot boast such a library. Until now, only nine projects have been made for mobile platforms using it.
The release of the benchmark is somewhat of a PR move, a statement of "we are still here."
