Nokia and Microsoft invested $1 million in mobile developers

Microsoft and Nokia have announced that as part of their joint AppCampus program, 36 (!) studios received funds totaling $1 million.

This program was launched in March this year. Its goal is to support developers who create applications for Windows Phone, Symbian and Series 40. As part of the program, on average, each studio received about $30 thousand. The record amount that funded one of the developments was $88 thousand.

According to the head of the AppCampus softwarePekka Sivonen, about 900 applications were reviewed, and based on their analysis, 36 best developers were selected. Most of the works will be released in October this year (in other words, just after or simultaneously with the release of Windows Phone 8).

Sivonen also stated that the program will continue with this. He promised that over the next three years Microsoft and Nokia will invest in about 700 more projects.
