Fireshine Games has acquired Fair Games, the developer behind Necesse. This move has been characterized as a "defining moment" for the Danish indie studio.

Fireshine Games has recently taken over the Danish independent game developer Fair Games, known for their open-world sandbox game, Necesse.

Mads Skovgaard, the founder and CEO of Fair Games, will continue as the managing director of the studio, with the original development team remaining intact.

Necesse, first made available in 2019, has attracted an audience of approximately 2.5 million players. With Fireshine's involvement, the game will receive ongoing support on PC as well as expansion to additional gaming platforms.

In a Steam announcement, Fair Games mentioned that Fireshine would assist with major tasks like publishing and platform adaptation. The statement emphasized that Fair Games will retain leadership over the game's direction and collaborate with Fireshine on creative ideas and feedback, tapping into Fireshine's significant expertise in the survival and crafting games sector.

Skovgaard remarked on the acquisition by stating, "This is a pivotal moment for Fair Games. Necesse has been in search of a partner for quite some time, and Fireshine seems to be the ideal match." He expressed confidence that with Fireshine’s strategic approach and resources, Necesse’s global presence and fan support will be significantly enhanced.

Echoing this sentiment, Fireshine's chief portfolio officer, Jasper Tanner-Barnes, previously spoke to GamesIndustry.biz about the nuances of identifying successful games, noting the importance of genuine interest and belief in a game's core vision.
