The Australian authorities are investing several hundred thousand more dollars into games

The Australian government will allocate 1 million Australian dollars (698 thousand USD) to support local game developers. Officially, the funds will be invested by the state corporation South Australian Film Corporation (SAFC), which will transfer them to the Digital Games Fund.

It is reported that teams based in the state of South Australia will be eligible for these funds.

Developers will have access to three types of support. They will be offered up to 30,000 Australian dollars (21 thousand USD) for pre-production and prototype creation, up to 150,000 Australian dollars (104.7 thousand USD) for the main development process, and up to 50,000 Australian dollars (34.9 thousand USD) for post-release works — for instance, porting and localization into additional languages.

Simultaneously, SAFC announced that it will assist aspiring developers in finding employment in local studios. For this purpose, it has launched a special program that promises to find jobs for professionals and, at the same time, compensate studios for part of the salary expenses.

The Australian authorities are allocating funds to game developers through SAFC for the second time. The first time was last year, but then the investment was half as much—the total fund was 500,000 Australian dollars (349 thousand USD). Ultimately, this amount was distributed among 11 studios, which included the creators of Pro Jank Footy, Photo Roboto, Pipsqueak!, End of Ember, and Life, Death and Ramen.
