Danish firm Trophy Games has purchased Playrion, the creator of Airport Simulator: First Class, from Paradox Interactive.

The acquisition deal includes an upfront payment of €2.25 million along with a three-year earn-out contingent on Playrion's net revenue.

This transaction sees 30 Playrion employees becoming part of the Trophy Games team.

Søren Gleie, CEO of Trophy Games, commented on the acquisition, stating it is a significant achievement for the company as Playrion has been a major competitor and strategic target for four years.

Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive, remarked on the sale as a move towards focusing on strategy and management games primarily for PC and consoles, asserting that Playrion's new ownership will encourage its continued growth.

Trophy Games plans to develop a new series of simulation games using Airport Simulator as its foundation, a method previously applied in 2021 after acquiring Airline Manager 4, which proved successful.

Gleie noted that their successful approach in expanding Airline Manager reveals potential for Airport Simulator to evolve into a growth engine for Trophy Games.

He emphasized that Trophy Games is well-positioned for continued expansion, with six active game developments.

The company has grown its revenue over fourfold in five years, now possessing the resources to make substantial acquisitions, with Playrion being their largest to date.

Following this acquisition, Trophy Games revised its financial goals for 2026, raising its revenue projections to between €22.8 million and €24.1 million from the previous forecast of €20.1 million to €22.4 million.

Paradox Interactive had previously brought Playrion into its fold in 2020. Established in 2010, Playrion is based in Paris.
